The main subsidiaries, associated and minority companies of RFI and the participation in the European Economic Interest Groups





Grandi Stazioni Rail SpA, since November 2018 100% controlled by RFI, is the Company in charge of redeveloping, enhancing and managing the fourteen main Italian railway stations: Bari Centrale, Bologna Centrale, Firenze Santa Maria Novella, Genova Brignole, Genova Piazza Principe, Milano Centrale, Napoli Centrale, Palermo Centrale, Roma Termini, Roma Tiburtina, Torino Porta Nuova, Venezia Mestre, Venezia Santa Lucia, Verona Porta Nuova.


The Company is wholly owned by RFI,  its core business  is  ferrying passengers and wheeled vehicles over the Strait of Messina.


The new RFI  company, 100% controlled, provides  the passengers naval connection between Messina, Villa San Giovanni and Reggio Calabria.

The Messina Strait crossing system is so reinforced by the new structure  with  Blu Jet dedicated to passenger transport, , RFI's ships to long-distance trains and Bluferries ships to vehicles and heavy vehicles.




Controlled to 100% by RFI, the Company  ensures,  in the first place the integrated management of terminal services,  within a network of 16  intermodal terminals  of RF  Ifor the most.

Formed to enhance the capacity of access lines and equipment goods as part of a single system and to optimize the use according to the principles of fairness, transparency and non-discrimination. Terminali Italia  - owned 'by 11% Cemat - is proposed as the one manager of last-mile rail services (handling). 
 



TFB relates to the management of the investment (50%) in the share capital of the Company "Brenner Base Tunnel - Brenner Base Tunnel BBT SE", promoter the realization of the  Brenner railway tunnel; the other 50% of the share capital of BBT SE is held by of the Austrian Railways  Company "ÖBB Infrastrukture".

TFB is controlled by Italian Railway Network SpA which holds 87.92% of the shares while the remaining shares at the same date, is as follows: 6,38% Autonomous Province of Bolzano, the Autonomous Province of Trento 5.13% and 0.57% Province of Verona.

Quadrante Europa Terminal Gate is  a Company  50% owned by RFI and 50% by the Consortium ZAI,  formed to promote the development of infrastructure and intermodal transport system within the Interporto of Verona where currently  Terminali Italia  manages the terminal Verona Quadrante Europe by offering services terminalization.
 



The European Economic Interest Group (EEIG) for the cross-border railway line Trieste-Divača has been set up to coordinate the design and project management of the cross-border section of the railway between Italy and Slovenia,  between Trieste and Divača included in the Priority Project 6 Trans-European Transport defined by the European Union. The start-up fund and the management costs are financed by the members equally.

The "EEIG for Mediterranean Rail Freight Corridor"  was established on the 19th of December 2013 to deal with all the  activities provided by EC  Regulation  913/2010 - aimed at  improving the efficiency and competitiveness of international rail  freight transport along the path Almeria-Valencia/Algeciras/ Madrid-Zaragoza/Barcelona-Marseille-Lyon-Torino-Milano-Verona-Padova/Venezia-Trieste/Koper-Lubljana/Rijeka-Zagreb-Budapest-Zahony (Hungarian- Ukrainian border).

The EEIG is composed of the following partners: ADIF (Spanish Rail Infrastructure Manager), LFP-Linea Figures Perpignan (The High Speed line between Spain and France), SNCF Réseau (French Rail Infrastructure Manager), Oc’Via (Nimes-Montpellier Line Rail Infrastructure Manager), RFI (Italian Rail Infrastructure Manager), SZ Infrastructure (Slovenian Rail Infrastructure Manager), HZ Infrastucture (Croatian Rail Infrastructure Manager), MAV (Hungarian Rail Infrastructure Manager) and VPE (Hungarian Rail Allocation Body).

The EEIG has always been led by a Managing Director appointed and seconded by RFI.

The  "EEIG Corridor Rhine-Alpine EWIV" - registered in 2014 as an evolution of the  "EEIG Corridor A", established in 2008 - manages activities aimed at improving the efficiency and competitiveness of rail freight transport (according to Regulation EC 913/2010), and to promote interoperability through ERTMS  implementation along the path Zeebrugge-Antwerp / Rotterdam-Duisburg-Basel-Milan-Genoa.

The EEIG is  composed of the following members: Infrabel (Belgian Rail Infrastructure Manager), Prorail (Dutch Rail Infrastructure manager), DB Netz (German Rail Infrastructur Manager), RFI (Italian Rail Infrastructure Manager) with the participation, as contractors, of  SBB Infrastruktur and BLS Netze (Swiss Rail Infrastructure Manager)  and Trasse Schweiz (Swiss Rail Allocation Body).
 



The "EEIG for Baltic-Adriatic Rail Freight Corridor 5" was established in Warsaw on the 13th of May 2016, in compliance with the requirements of EC Regulation 913/2010.

The EEIG is composed of the following members: PKP PLK (Polish Rail Infrastructure Manager), SŽDC (Check Rail Infrastructure Manager), ŽSR (Slovakian Rail Infrastructure Manager), ÖBB- Infra (Austrian Rail Infrastructure Manager) and RFI (Italian Rail Infrastructure Manager).

Its mission is to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of the international rail freight transport along the route Swinoujscie/Gdynia-Katowice-Ostrava/Žilina-Bratislava/ Wien/Klagenfurt-Udine-Venezia/ Trieste/ /Bologna/Ravenna/ Graz-Maribor-Ljubljana-Koper/Trieste.

The new corridor team became operational on the 1st of January 2019, at the new headquarters located in Mestre (VE) with a mandate of three years. The new team is composed of ,among others, the Executive Director and the Corridor One Stop Shop who have been seconded by RFI.

The Austrian association "Scandinavian Mediterranean Rail Freight Corridor" was established in Vienna in 2016 in accordance with the obligations of EC Regulation 913/2010, for the management of activities aimed at improving the efficiency and competitiveness of international rail freight transport along the route: Stockholm/Oslo/Trelleborg-Malmö-København-Hamburg-Innsbruck-Verona - La Spezia / Livorno / Ancona/ Taranto / Augusta / Palermo.

The Association is composed of the following members:  Banenor (Norwegian Rail Infrastructure Manager), Trafikverket (Swedish Public Authority-Rail Infrastructure Manager), Banedanmark (Danish Rail Infrastructure Manager), DB Netz AG (German Rail Infrastructure Manager), ÖBB- Infra (Austrian Rail Infrastructure Manager) and RFI (Italian Rail Infrastructure Manager).

The new team, within which the position of Managing Director is held by a Manager  seconded by RFI, is operational since the 1st of January 2019 with a mandate of three years.
