Assistance Service Train/Plane at Rome Fiumicino Airport

WARNING: from February 11th to May 31st 2019 the tactile pathway that connects Fiumicino Airport train station with Terminal 1 is unavailable

At Fiumicino Airport is available an integrated train/plane assistance service, completely free, for passengers with disabilities and reduced mobility.

This service was born from a collaboration agreement signed between ADR Assistance -Aeroporti di Roma Company dedicated to PRM assistance- and RFI -Infrastructure Manager- with the aim of providing a continuous assistance to PRMs in transit from the train to the aircraft and vice versa.

Interested passengers departing by plane will be directly welcomed by ADR Assistance operators at  Fiumicino Airport Station, assisted at security checks and accompanied directly to the boarding areas up to their seat on board.

Travellers arriving by plane will be accompanied after landing to the Baggage Claim and to the train Station, being supported in case  of purchase of the train ticket and for the accommodation on board of the train, if needed.

All information to book the integrated assistance service is available both in the ADR Assistance and in the RFI website.

To take full advantage of the integrated train/plane service, passengers are recommended to follow the instructions below reported:

Booking the PRM Service "Train/Planeā€

It is possible to book the service directly at RFI's Sala Blu or by sending an e-mail to SalaBlu.ROMA@rfi.it, or using the SalaBlu Online web application or by or using the mobile App SalaBlu+ or by calling, from 6:45 am to 9:30 pm, the toll-free number 800.90.60.60 (only from an Italian landline) or the Italian national number for ordinary rate n +39 02.32.32.32 (from abroad or mobile).

The assistance service must be booked from 24 hours up to 1 hour before departure, depending on the selected contact channel, in agreement to the general conditions for requesting PRM assistance to RFI, published on the RFI website in the section Accessibility Service in Station.

In the request it must be specified that the passenger needs to use the integrated train-plane assistance service, communicating to RFI the alphanumeric code of the flight with arrival/departure time, indicated on the flight reservation (e.g. Alitalia flight departing for Nice at 4:30pm AZ354, Easyjet flight arriving from Bristol at 5:00 pm EZY6186)

Reserving the integrated train-plane assistance service through RFI Sala Blu booking channels is not a substitute for a request to the airline company, which must be made at the time of purchasing the airline ticket.

Please pay attention to transit times between the two trips

To move through the airport without stress and worries passengers are recommended to keep in mind the possible transfer times:

- arriving by train at Fiumicino Airport at least 2 hours before departure with National/ Schengen flights and 3 hours before departure with non-Schengen flights;

- arriving by plane at Fiumicino Airport, at least 90 minutes are needed to reach the station and  further 30 minutes before the train departure.

Baggage

The PRM "Train/Plane" Assistance Service includes the transport of a single piece of baggage. The airport operator is able to accompany a PRM passenger with a baggage up to about 12 kg. If the PRM passenger travels alone and carries a baggage of a higher weight or of a particular size, this must be reported at the booking  order to highlight the need of a second operator.

In the railway stations of Roma Termini, Milano Centrale, Venezia Santa Lucia, Firenze Santa Maria Novella and Napoli Centrale it is possible to book the luggage service paying a fee for the excess baggage.

The service is provided by Kipoint, is available every day from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm and can be booked by calling the Kipoint Call Center: +39.199.42.34.56.

The costs of the call to the call center and of the luggage service are published on the Kipoint website.

Please note: if the assistance service has not been previously booked

- Arriving by train at the Fiumicino Airport Station the passenger will not find any operator waiting for him/her. The passenger must contact ADR Assistance using the PRM interactive call kiosk placed in the railway station and wait for  the operator. We will assist the passenger anyway, but the waiting times will be necessarily longer.

- Arriving by plane at Fiumicino Airport, RFI will anyway organize the journey by train, compatibly with the notice time for organizing the service at the final destination.
