General conditions to provide the service of assistance to the people with disabilities and reduced mobility (PRM) between the terminal and the railway station of Fiumicino Airport

At Fiumicino Airport there is an integrated “train/plane” assistance service, free of charge, for passengers with disabilities and reduced mobility.

This initiative stems from a collaboration agreement signed between ADR Assistance, the “Aeroporti di Roma” company dedicated to the assistance of PRM, and RFI, the railway infrastructure manager, with the aim of providing continuity in the assistance to the PRM in transit, from the train to the plane and vice versa.

The passengers concerned, departing by plane, will be greeted by the ADR Assistance operators directly at the Fiumicino Airport station and accompanied to the check-in and through the security checks, until to their place on board.

Arriving by plane, travelers will be accompanied from their disembarkment to the baggage claim and finally to the railway station and supported for the purchase of the railway ticket and, if necessary, to get on the train and to reach the seat.

Reserve the "train / plane" PRM service

You can reserve the service directly at the RFI “Sala Blu” offices or by calling, from 6:45 to 9:30 pm, the toll-free number 800.90.60.60 (only from a landline), or the national number at the ordinary rate, or writing to or using the SalaBlu Online web application:

The notice times to request the assistance service vary from 1 to 24 hours, depending on the chosen contact channel, according to the general conditions for PRM assistance provided by RFI and published on the RFI website in the section “Accessibility”.

At the time of the request, you should specify your intention to use the integrated “train/plane” assistance service and communicate to RFI the alphanumeric code of the flight, indicated on the flight reservation (eg Alitalia flight to Nice at 16:30 AZ354; Easyjet flight from Bristol at 17:00 EZY6186)

The booking of the integrated “train/plane” assistance service, performed through the RFI Sale Blu, does not replace the request to the airline that you should submit at the time of purchase the ticket.

Consider the interchange times

To avoid unnecessary stress or worries, we recommend that you consider the following interchange times:


-       arriving by train at Fiumicino, you should consider at least 2 hours before departure with National / Schengen flights and 3 hours before departure with Extraschengen flights.


-       arriving by plane at Fiumicino, you should consider at least 1 ½ hours to reach the station in time, 30 minutes before the departure of the train with which you intend to travel

Rate the baggage

The PRM “train/plane” assistance service provides for the carriage of one piece of baggage. The airport operator is able to accompany a PRM with a baggage up to about 12 kg. If the PRM travels alone and carries with it a baggage of a higher weight or of particular dimensions, it must report it in the reservation in order to highlight the need of a second operator.

At the railway stations of: Roma Termini, Milano Centrale, Venezia, Bologna Centrale, Firenze SMN and Napoli Centrale it is possible to book the carriage service for excess baggage.

Please note: if you have not booked the assistance service

Arriving by train at the Fiumicino Airport station, you will not find an operator waiting for you. You will therefore have to contact ADR using the PRM totem at the railway station and wait for the arrival of the staff; an operator will pick you up anyway but the waiting times will be longer.


Arriving by plane at Fiumicino, ADR and RFI will organize your journey by train anyway, in accordance with the notice period provided for by the station of destination chosen by you.
