Integrated European Railway Area

RFI actively participates in the creation of an integrated European railway area, as defined by the EU White Paper of 2001, through the development of actions to ensure full interoperability conditions of its network and to extend and modernize the national sections of the trans-European traffic routes , included in the TEN-T (Trans-European Transport Networks).

European legislation provides for two types of transport corridor:

TEN-T corridors: transport axes on which are provided the necessary alignment of European funding infrastructure standards between the various Member States to the creation of a European rail transport.

Rail Freight Corridors: aligned with TEN corridors aim at the commercial development of rail freight transport through the measures provided for in Regulation 913/2010.
