“All men can see these tactics whereby I conquer, but what none can see is the strategy out of which victory is evolved” Sun Tzu.

This is why, in view of the challenges - but also the opportunities - that the post-pandemic presents to Europe in terms of sustainable growth, the governance of the Baltic Adriatic Freight Railway Corridor has decided to put down on paper its vision and strategy and means to implement them.

The Strategy Paper is the result of the collaboration between the Executive Board and the Board of Directors/General Assembly of the Corridor, with the assistance of the PMO (Project Manager Officer), the aim of which is to illustrate the strategic objectives of the Baltic-Adriatic RFC over the long, medium and short term.

The themes identified and elaborated for the growth and development of traffic on the Corridor axis can be summarised in 4 main points:

  • business areas on which the corridor will focus: supply and product development, operation and digitalisation, communication and marketing, TCR (Temporary Capacity Restriction) and infrastructure;
  • identification of the project portfolio;
  • implementation methodology, monitoring and evaluation (KPIs);
  • commitment of the parties.

The result is a document that is intended to be a dynamic working tool and not just a list of activities to be carried out and implemented, to be reviewed regularly in the light of progress made and future opportunities and challenges.

Not a novel therefore, but a useful read. Enjoy it!
