RFI offers passengers in wheelchairs assistance in getting on and off the train using a forklift truck, operated by specially appointed staff.

As a general rule, access is provided for trains with at least one carriage equipped for transporting wheelchair users and the people accompanying them (recognisable on the outside by the appropriate international symbol), subject to availability.

If specifically requested and granted by the Railway Undertaking, passengers with folding wheelchairs who are able to sit in an ordinary seat, either independently or with the help of an accompanying person, may access trains that do not have special seats.

N.B.: wheelchairs provided for disabled passengers must have a width no greater than 700 mm, depth no greater than 1,200 mm and weight no greater than 250 kg when fully loaded.
