Waste Accountability

The management of end-of-life material generated by RFI's industrial activities led to the production of approximately 216 thousand tonnes of special waste in 2024.

Of this, approximately 91% is non-hazardous special waste, mostly consisting of iron and steel, while the remaining 9% is hazardous special waste consisting mainly of wood crossties imbued with creosote oil.

RFI's commitment to proper waste management is confirmed by the percentage of special waste sent for recovery, which exceeds 99% of the total in 2024.
