Milano Cortina 2026: how the stations between Veneto and Trentino will be changing

In the heart of the Alps, between Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige, the Belluno, Feltre, Longarone, Ponte nelle Alpi and Trento stations are gearing up to welcome citizens and visitors in the best possible way, with architectural renovations, new pedestrian routes, more functional urban spaces and greater intermodality options.

Works at the stations

The Trento station is one of the ten stations involved in the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games Milano Cortina 2026.

The projects supervised by RFI and “Infrastrutture Milano Cortina 2020-2026”, following a EUR 31.5 million investment co-financed with funds from the Olympic Decree*, will improve accessibility, sustainability, intermodality and connections in the areas where the competitions will be held.

Main interventions:

  • Station building renovation and restyling for greater passenger comfort 
  • Historic canopies restoration and city-side roofs upgrades
  • Reorganisation of Piazza Dante with new pedestrian spaces
  • Redevelopment of Piazzetta Mazzoni and Piazzetta Foti Martini 
  • Construction of a new bus terminal in Via Segantini 
  • Construction of a new bicycle station 
  • Redevelopment of the three underpasses  
  • Improved accessibility by raising platforms to facilitate getting on/off the trains. Installation of new lifts and completion of tactile paths to promote orientation for people with visual impairments.

The Feltre station is one of the ten stations involved in the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games Milano Cortina 2026.

The projects supervised by RFI and “Infrastrutture Milano Cortina 2020-2026”, following a EUR 3 million investment co-financed with funds from the Olympic Decree*, will improve accessibility, sustainability, intermodality and connections in the areas where the competitions will be held.

Main interventions:

  • Station forecourt reorganisation, increased pedestrian space and better connections for public and private transport
  • Station building restyling with structural works on the building with architectural and historical restrictions to make it safer and more functional
  • Public lighting upgrade.

The Belluno station is one of the ten stations involved in the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games Milano Cortina 2026.

The projects supervised by RFI and “Infrastrutture Milano Cortina 2020-2026”, following a EUR 15 million investment co-financed with funds from the Olympic Decree*, will improve accessibility, sustainability, intermodality and connections in the areas where the competitions will be held.

Main interventions:

  • Station building restyling with seismic upgrades and new spaces for greater passenger comfort
  • Conversion of the former bowling alley into a bicycle station to promote bike usage 
  • Improved accessibility: new lifts on the platform and on both station exits. Raised platforms to facilitate getting on/off the trains. Completion of tactile paths to promote orientation for people with visual impairments.

The Ponte nelle Alpi station is one of the ten stations involved in the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games Milano Cortina 2026.

The project supervised by RFI and “Infrastrutture Milano Cortina 2020-2026”, following a EUR 20 million investment co-financed with funds from the Olympic Decree*, will improve accessibility, sustainability, intermodality and connections in the areas where the competitions will be held.

Main interventions:

  • Improved station accessibility: new lifts on the platforms, and new tactile paths
  • Canopies restoration
  • Underpass restyling
  • Station forecourt reorganized to promote pedestrian and intermodal transport
  • Expansion of the historic building with improvements made using sustainable materials and new spaces for passenger comfort
  • Underpass extension to connect the two parts of the city currently divided by the tracks
  • New station services building

The station extension was built according to sustainability criteria, with dry wooden structures and Nearly Zero Energy Building energy-efficient systems. The project's Design phase was awarded the international Envision certification.

The Longarone station is one of the ten stations involved in the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games Milano Cortina 2026.

The projects supervised by RFI and “Infrastrutture Milano Cortina 2020-2026”, following a EUR 12 million investment co-financed with funds from the Olympic Decree*, will improve accessibility, sustainability, intermodality and connections in the areas where the competitions will be held.

Main interventions:

  • Construction of new canopies and restyling of the existing one 
  • Construction of new underpass for faster and safer connections
  • Improved accessibility: raised platforms to facilitate getting on/off the trains. Creation of tactile paths to promote orientation for people with visual impairments.
  • Construction of a new track and platform.
