>> Single safety certificate

The Single Safety Certificate provides proof that the railway undertaking concerned has established its safety management system and is able to operate safely within the area of operations covered. The certificate specifies the type and breadth of railway activities that a railway undertaking may carry out and the area of operations.

The Single Safety Certificate is used:

•    by the European Railway Agency (ERA) whenever RUs provide railway services in more than one EU Member State
•    by the Italian National Agency for Railway Safety (ANSF) or ERA (it is up to the RUs to decide) when RUs provide railway services only in Italy and up to border stations

All questions and related information, the phases of the relevant procedures and the respective results concerning the issue or updating of the Single Safety Certificate are transmitted via the One stop shop (OSS), which can be contacted at the following internet address: https://oss.era.europa.eu
